England head coach Gareth Southgate is getting a lot of praise for his job as the country’s national team head coach, especially how he has turned the England players into genuine title contenders at the ongoing UEFA Euros tournament. Before the competition started, England were probably not on anyone’s books as potential winners and they further slipped down the list of potential winners after their opening fixtures that saw them show some lackluster performances even though they kept recording wins in the process.
Even after the tournament had started, Southgate’s starting eleven choices were criticized, as he came under huge scrutiny for not using the likes of Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. Jack Grealish was also coming in and going out of the team but a lot of fans kept complaining and asking him to make the Aston Villa star a more permanent fixture in the team.
England are now in the semi-final of the tournament and only Denmark are standing in their way to booking a final spot where they will be facing Italy, who saw off Spain in the other semi-final of the tournament. If England move past Denmark in their semi-final clash, then they have a huge chance of winning the Euros when they face Italy in the final in the coming days and it would be a huge achievement for Southgate and his players.
